As the nation's green wave continues to move from environmental campaigns to responsible consumerism ,a website has been launched devoted to helping Hampton Roads Virginia consumers develop greener behaviors and a healthier community and planet.

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA , February 24, is the first online directory of Hampton Roads’ businesses and organizations that provide environmentally friendly products and/or services. The website also offers a local and national calendar of green events, a news section, a blog on hot green topics, and everyday green lifestyle tips.

“Over the last several months, we have contacted hundreds of area businesses and organizations to see what products, services, programs, and events they might be offering that are environmentally-friendly. The goal of the website is to provide a user friendly, well organized directory that will make it easier to go green. Go Green Hampton is not a paid directory. Businesses are listed in various categories because they offer eco-friendly products or services. In addition, the site sells page sponsorships, but is careful to only offer these opportunities to businesses that will enhance the mission of this site. A portion of the sponsorship revenue will be donated to local environmental non-profit organizations in an effort to continue enhancing the Hampton Roads community.
