Recycling of some items may do more harm than good
Most everyone understands the importance of recycling and gladly separates recyclables from there regular trash for community pick-up dates. However, just as important as recycling is, it is equally important to be aware of what IS and what is NOT recyclable in your community.
Although an item may be marked with a recycling symbol, and you may be tempted to see if they will take it along with your acceptable goods, trying to recycle items not approved by your community recycler can do more harm than good.
The non-acceptable items could:
- contaminate an entire batch of recycling
- cause damage to the machinery if caught or jammed during the recovery process at your recycling center
- cause sanitary problems in the recovery process
